The rural exodus is a phenomenon of emigration from the countryside to the city, a very old process that accelerated with the Industrial Revolution and that involves a change of profession, the abandonment of agricultural practices, land, forests and everything that this entails.
Currently, there are fewer and fewer traditional farmers in active employment, and few want this life for their children; sacrifice, bureaucracy, instability and few benefits.
The situation could be reversed with the emergence of a new phenomenon, neo-ruralism, an emigration from urban areas to rural areas of young families with children who wish to live in the countryside.
This type of migration can have economic causes and also responds to the search for a better quality of life, motivated by the belief that life in the countryside is better than in cities. And it is a way to prevent the depopulation of the countryside by promoting the maintenance of traditions and the impetus and dynamism in rural areas with an aging population.
However, it does not become a sufficient guarantee of generational succession for farming, despite the efforts of some families, determined to develop a rural life by practicing agricultural, artisanal or service activities, with the desire to have commercial profitability. The farming of the future will have to be professional and very different from what we have known so far.
This is where Bosc La Riba was born, to diversify our business so that we can continue living in the rural environment, where we are originally from, continuing with tradition combined with new opportunities.
